I've just been in touch with Sky regarding the cancellation of my Sky+ subscription as I no longer want it. They asked me if I wanted to continue using the record function of the Sky+ box, and if I did, I would have to pay £10 per month to use it. I want to be able to use the Sky+ box for freeview channels and still use the record facility for freeview programs. Anybody any ideas if it will work or if not, how would I go about making it work? Cheers!

Sorry, can't help as I don't know. But it is a valid opportunity to highlight what a bunch of cowboys Sky are. It always seems 10x easier to take out a subscription than cancel it and they always come off best. I am glad I cancelled our Sky nearly 12 months ago on principle!

Can you get Freeview through your Arial??

If so might be worth looking into getting something along the lines of the SONY RDRHXD710 DVD Recorder with a 160GB Hard drive and a built in digital terrestrial tuner...

Thanks Trevor, but at £409.00, that's exactly £409.00 more than I wanted to spend as I already have the Sky+ box which is (in effect) now free.
