Outlook 2002, is set to "send/receive" every minute, but often I get this box thrown up, I click OK when prompted to enter user name and password, which is checked to save in the password list and it performs the required "send/receive".

My question is how the hell, do I get it to stop asking me this! One of you computer bods must know.

Dropped broadband connections?

Thanks in advance.

Do you log on to your desktop/laptop with your domain credentials?

Is your PC in the same domain?

All I can immediately think of....

I had that recently - it was a fault at the ISP / server end that was locking out my account - you mention that you have dropped broadband connections, this is the cause - your email account at the host end as a precautionary measure is locking your account temporarily after the connection is dropped, in case its a hack.

I'm a computer numpty & this is the expalantion I was given. Seemed plausible to me, no doubt the IT bods on here are splitting their sides at my naievity...

Hope that helps

Chris

Dude...let them laugh...I'm with you!

I'm guessing at the dropped connections by the way, so this may be the actual reason. But we're in a business centre where the connection is shared along with my colleagues and they don't experience the same problems as much as I.

Errr....you mean Microsoft Windows networking password?

We're on a workgroup as opposed to a domain, that I do know.

If it only happens sometimes then it's not the registry problem that was posted above, as this is pretty consistent. I suspect it's a temp account lock on the pop server, which is normal. Ususally these locks are only 30 seconds or so, so gennerally you can connect, check, and disconnect fine, if you get any mail which takes more than 30 seconds to download, then your password will be temporarily disabled during the next check. As far as outlook is concerned all it knows is that the logon was denied, so it assumes incorrect credentials, and asks.

Change the scedule to every 6 minues or so and it should be fine
