Can it be done - Can you close an existing e-mail account so it just bounces any e-mails sent to it or divert them to another e-mail address?

Might be worth emailing their techies about it, but I suspect this would be out of the ordinary.
Do Tiscali do username@tiscali.blah, or username@username.tiscali.blah. If its the former, then nope, they probably wont do it, but if its the latter, then maybe you could get a catchall put on the account so that anything that wasnt to a known account went to a designated account.

It used to be the case that when an ISP closed an account, email subsequently sent to that account was bounced with a "no such user" error. However, in these happy days of spamming filth, many ISPs simply throw away emails addressed to unknown users, since bouncing them is more work, and pointless when the originators address is forged.

Can you add an "Out of office" type response and set it so you're "On holiday" for the next 100 years or something?
