Internet Explorer? The bloody thing won't initialise and it doesn't appear in the control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list. I've tried installing IE6 over the top, but the problem remains the same.

You can't; Microsoft have made Internet Explorer an integral part of the operating system. For good sound technical reasons and not in any way as an attempt to entrench their browser monopoly.

The nearest you can come to uninstalling it is to hide the desktop icon and install Firefox or equivalent.
