Hi Guys

Still need some help here. Been battling the spyware and other evils for 2 days now. I can't format until aftwer Christmas as the computer is needed.

Ok, so far I think I have removed all the spyware. I have used about a million progs that have been suggested to me, including Hijack This. I had the secure32 viurs worm thingy and deleted all the file that relate to this.

But I have 2 problems

1). IE now no longer starts. It kinda stopped working when I deleted the String "Start Page" from 2 entries in the registry that were related to secure32.

2).Also my email no longer works through Outlook. Basically it says connecting, then connected, but times out due to no response. Have I ar*ed up the system by being too happy go lucky in the registry and system 32?

If I perform a repair install will this fix my IE and Outlook issues? I am going to format as soon as I can, but right now I can't.

I am currently using Firefox, but need to get IE running.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Chris

Are you able export your outlook email and accounts settings and then download and install Mozilla Thunderbird and import your outlook settings and email as backup to go with Firefox, then you will have email and internet access. Till you can have the time to fix things properly.

PS. I completely dumped outlook and IE months back and haven't bothered with them since.

Yep screw IE, if nececary change the icon for Firefox to a big blue E on the desktop to stop the moaning

Failing that, you could try this Clicky

Followed by going to control pannel, internet options, reset web settings (somewhere in there not on the first screen)

HTH

Ps: check all the account/server settings in outlook, maybe remove the account and re-add it?
