Samsung A800 problem

Doing a clearout tidy up came across an old Samsung A800 mobile on 02 PAYG.
Not been used ages, battery as flat as a proverbial.
Tried to charge it up and the only sign anything happening is that both charger and phone battery got slightly warm as normal.
Phone will not boot up, just a blank screen with a border round the edge. Tried this without a SIM card and with a working 02 sim.
So is the phone stuffed and simply worthy of filing in round cabinet? Or does it just need a shot of something inserted in its EEPROM?
I've tried the reset codes listed on various websites but stuff all response.
Any ideas anyone?
