Can't sell an NTL box...
Discussion
on e-bay because it could be used to view cable channels via coax cable. i recieved the email from ebay and the item was taken off from their site.
Anyone know where i could sell it?
The box has been sitting in my cupboard for the last 2 years. I rang NTL and they don't have any records of a missing box pace box.
thanks

I thought that was the whole idea of the box?....
Anyway it may have more to do with the fact the box's are owned by NTL and are not for resale after you cancel the contract with them. With Sky you actually own the equipment but it is subsidised by your contract with them.

Exactly right selling NTLs property is illegal.
.... but...... in this case.......
Assuming you obtained the box legally, ie they delivered it when you took out their services. You then cancelled, at which point and I assume since, you have made the box available for collection, does not common law possession take effect after two years?
In which case it's yours to do what you like with regardless of what NTL and eBay might think, and you could update your listing accordingly.
Please check, the above facts may be not be.

probly not worth the bother as you can fix for freview mode shall we say but a dbox2 with fix digitail cable into freeview mode far better.
so there aint woth bugger all now
They are worth a bit, as unscrupulous (sp) people split their cable signal, so that a "legal" box gets the proper channels, costing £5.50 a month, and loop this back to the exchange. They then take a split feed into another box, such as yours, and chip it to get all the channels for free...

Maybe slightly off topic, but I want to view Cable in two rooms. What are the options? NTL want £50 for another box and then £15 per month for the rental?
Can I split the scart cable signal and take it about 25 foot?
If you only want to watch one cable channel at a time in both rooms then you want a digi-sender and reciever, which even lets you use your remote to operate the cable box from a different room. Argos and Dixons sell these things for about £50.

Yep worked for 1 year fixing these, during that time we discovered very many boxes that had been "tampered" with all of which were returned to NTL and many led to a police investigation, we were kept up to date as it was a method of deterring tech's from setting themselves up in buisness.

I would like to watch different ones if possible, failing that, just divert to the other room only would be ok.
