This looks a reasonable choice
Depends what uses she wants it for really... and that one above would only be good if 60GB hard drive is sufficient. If you post here the main use for it, gaming, dvd writing, graphics etc.. I'm sure someone can give a better idea..
Try eBay search for what you are looking for.. set prices from £500 to £750, set minimum hard drive size required, then see what you think of those. Most of the ones on eBay are actually new and come with a guarantee. And are quite a bit cheaper than the same thing from elsewhere..
You can compare prices on the bay with other online shops at www.kelkoo.co.uk

From the dreaded PC World, a Reconditioned Sony
or.. Compaq from Dixons but only 40GB HDD
This looks ok but £50 over budget for 1.6Ghz
This is AMD which I would prefer over Intel, but the Graphics card is only 64 (Compared to I think all of those above)
But to be honest, for £700 as long as the seller isn't a scoundrel and you avoid Packard Bell etc.. you can't go wrong

Thanks Uncle!
She's not interested in gaming, mainly music, movies and word processing etc, must have a good graphics card and wireless connectivity, will have a look on ebay although I'm not keen on spending that much on ebay after having been burnt in the past.
Cheers
Dell D800 went on e-bay tonight for £420 (512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 1.6GHz Pentium M) so its not going to bend spacetime, but it has a very pretty 15.5 inch 1920X1200 display, poetically dubbed a WUXGA.
