Windows Help Needed
Discussion
Am having an interesting problem with one application at the moment where it starts and runs for a while before crashing. Error logs are giving following - faulting module Kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001eb33.
Googling hasn't really thrown anything helpful up so far, the really annoying aspect is that it only seems to be a problem with one program. I've tried deleting and re-installing but to no avail, and short of a complete wipe of the drive and a fresh install from the ground up, I'm running out of ideas.
Anyone?....longshots welcome.....

The problem only occurs when you run that one application? I'd start by confirming that the OS you're running meets the stated requirements for that application. If it does, then perhaps the app doesn't like one of your DLLs. If you have a development environment, you could use a dependancy checker to see what the app expects and how this compares to your actual runtime environment, if that isn't an option then I guess you'll support from the people who sold you the application.
The only thing i can think of is the latest windows security update which was delivered via automatic updates, otherwise i'm in the dark.
I run windows with system restore disabled to help with any virus issues, so that's a non starter. I have tried uninstalling the update and running from there, which failed.
I completely agree that something has changed, it's just that i cannot for the life of me figure out what or how

You should be able to see what updates have been installed in the windows update history, that might enable you to work out whether there have been any recent updates that could have caused this. If it is caused by an update which you can't uninstall, I think you need to either get support from the application vendor, or diagnose it yourself. If it does turn out to be caused by a windows update you may not be the only person with the problem.
If you take the DIY route I would start by checking the dependencies, although this is something that might be best left to a developer.
For what it's worth I suggest you enable restore and only disable it if you need to clean a virus.
