The last version of winzip I used was 9. You could use it forever, and it would display a message saying it was installed xxx days ago, but it actually went on working perfectly without requiring payment or upgrade.

Just been to winzip.com which says winzip 10 is free to try, but is only licensed for 45 days. Does anyone know if it will expire after this time and not work at all, afterwards?

Not worth trying imho, it would likely contain code which prevents users from reverting to 9, if you do have to pay to use it after that time. Does anyone know for sure?

One thing I do know for sure is, you don't need winzip with XP!
