This is probably a really stupid question I need answering.

I recently project managed an email upgrade from Exchange 5.5 server to 2003 server but due to resource issues I am now having to support/manage the system too!!! I have lots of 5.5 knowledge so I know terminology and concepts etc….

We have hundreds of contacts (custom recipients in 5.5) and many distribution lists, these are updated/amended on a daily basis.

All the 5.5 data has been migrated over successfully and all is OK but occasionally I need to publish member lists to the business. This was achieved previously by exporting the data to a .CSV file and omitting data we didn't require then send to them.

Does anyone know how this is now achieved with AD?

We hide the DL's from the GAL and also hide the membership list. But even when we unhide the members and do an ADVANCED FIND \ FIELD \ CONTACT \ MEMBER OF then search, it comes up blank.

Is there a way of exporting data instead of doing a search even if the above worked?

Any help would be great and if you're close by, a beer on me!!! Oh, as long as I can pick your brain about other Exchange 2003 stuff too

Thanks, T.

"Resource issues" - does that mean "the contractor fecked off for a batter rate"?

Just on the off chance Greg is busy....

This is not as simple to achieve using Exchange 2000+. The information you require is stored in the AD. Technically what you seem to require is an export of the mail enabled groups from the Active Directory.

There are a number of Support Tools which will help you do that. The alternative is to write a VBScript to do it.
It looks like someone else had the same issue (and was given the required VBScript) here: www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Visual_Basic/Q_21311589.html

Cheers Darren, glad I wasn't being stupid and it staring me in the face.

Another MS c0ck sucking balls up then!!! I'm rubbish at writing scripts/code so will use the link you sent me and speak to one of the dev guys.

MS seem to have forgot to mention this from their "Benefits of upgrading to 2003" web page

Agreed, entirely Microsoft's fault.

Definitely nothing to do with the project manager getting the "roll out to our live environment" step before the "test all required functionality" step in the project plan.

If only life in this place was so simple fella.

I have yet to even see budget for training courses since the I.T outsource let alone testing environments!! Maybe that's why they sacked the Testng Manager!!!
