Folks, I hope you can help.

Just bought a cheapie webcam on ebay, installs as a Vimicro USB PC Camera LTI301p.

Towards the end of the installation of the drivers it asks for a file called "RunSetup.dll" which isn't on the CD.

Lots of googling came up with some other drivers for the same and similar models; however none seem to work.

Googling for the filename and "webcam" comes up with 2 questions about the same problem (both recent) with no replies.

Nobody who bought the camera seems to have said anything in the seller's feedback about it.

I will contact him but hold little hope given that he hasn't replied to any emails yet...

Cheers,

UncleDave

Hi, Just done a spot of research myself...

Try uninstalling everything so far then use these:
Drivers

Otherwise post back here and we'll have another look

Dave.

Is it this one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-WEBCAM-CAMERA-MICROPHONE-L

If so, it's the one I've got and I'll take a closer look.

It's one of these :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&

It's a nightmare uninstalling it as when the file fails to install it breaks and comes up with an error trying to uninstall

That's the same one I've got, email me through my profile and I'll send the runsetup.dll file over.

Nige, I'll buy you a beer if we meet IRL, now working perfectly!

(Now why do they sell the damn thing with a file missing!?)

Slightly weird though - when I installed it something switched off Windows Firewall.... Hmmm..
Have got AVG/Spybot running atm. Also have my router configured as a firewall too but has got me worried. Full reinstall may be on the cards soon

Slighty worrying, did you install all the other bits and bobs (like the games) too?
If you want, I can send over the whole webcam install directory, I think it's only about 2 meg.

Nige, that might be useful - did you get a different CD from me then?

Spybot hasn't come up with anything of significance, nothing from AVG yet either.

It was odd because it popped up the window telling me, so I just switched it back on...

I got a CD called 'Driver', it was just a blank CD with no writing at all on it. It has the following directories -

AcrobatReader
Bin
DirectX
Driver
IPPhone
RealityFusion
UserManual
Vp_eye30
and a few setup, autorun files.

I'll send the driver directory across now
