Thinking about buying an iBook
Discussion
John Lewis have these on sale and I would like a laptop which can connect to my iPod, camera, PSP and have an Office compatible suite. I assume that the Airport extreme is just a WiFi card as I have a Linksys ADSL router. Also, can you sync with Nokia phones etc?
If this isn't suitable, can you recommend another laptop, either windows or mac for the same of less price as this is really the highest i can afford.
Also saw a Intel Celeron M370 laptop, what are these processors like?
thanks

Airport extreme is basically an 11g wireless card. They work fine with linksys access points so should work with the router.
You can sync a lot of phones with them and the software is built in so it uses the normal address book (rather than the toilet PC applications that come with most phones). They sync via cable or bluetooth with one click. The apple site details what phones are compatible. www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html
For an office compatible suite, MS Office X for the mac is better than any windows version of office! If you don't want to pay or illegally aquire, you can get OpenOffice for it for free.
The iPod will work great, and so will you camera. The iLife suite is the dogs danglies, and the iPhoto application is the best tool for importing/organising photos bar none. Nothing on windows even comes close.
It will sync fine to the PSP for copyingmovies/music over.
Basically, it'll do everything you want and it'll be the easiest to use laptop you've ever seen, so much better than a windows one.
There are intel based mac laptops coming out, but only the more expensive ones. All current apps work on the PPC based ones, new apps should work on both, and it'll be a long time before you get intel only apps. So I wouldn't worry about the whole intel thing. You'll probably get many replies saying "wait for the intel ones" but if you do, you'll be waiting ages. It's the same as any PC, buy now or wait and get something better, then when you decide to get the something better, someone else will tell you to wait for the next thing, and the next thing...
