How Easy Is It To Make Your Own E-Commerce Site?

[Gandalf]

Anyone any words of wisdom about how easy/difficult it is to build and edit an e-commerce web site?
Any recommendations for idiot proof WYSIWIG software?

Depends on which software you use.

Some places (like the one in the banner up top!) allow for 'Easy Install' of products like OsCommerce. You just click Install, tap in the Name of the shop and a few password details, and its up and running!

Once up, you really could do with an SSL certificate to secure all online transactions (again easily done!)

There are other products, like Actinic, that allow you to do all the updating locally on your pc, then hit a button and it uploads all the shop to your webserver, but it costs a few bob.

Relatively easy. It depends what level of experience you have. If you are able to understand the basics of producing webpages you should be able to get something off the ground, OsCommerce is very good for this and is free.

www.shopatbettyboop.co.uk Is an example of this, run by a PH'er.
