Hi all

I need some help regarding buying a TV tuner card for my pc as I have no idea what is best for me.

All i want to do is watch TV via my pc rather than having a separate TV. I'm going to be buying an LCD monitor in the near future if that makes any difference.

Or alternatively are there there any LCD TV's available which i can plug my computer into.

I dont have masses to spend so any help would be gratefully received..

Cheers

I have had 2 winTV's (PCI internal ones) and they were both pretty good. You can get USB ones now which are easier to install (no taking the computer apart) but they take up room on your desk/floor/whereever.

I think you'll find some now that will get freeview which is probably worth it unless you can't get it in your area.

I think you'll find LCD TVs that you can connect as a monitor as well but suspect it's not up to the standard of a proper monitor (due to TVs being much lower resolution and designed to be viewed from further away). However I'm sure there are also some good LCD monitor/TV combos out there too.

Sorry I can't be more specific... try someone like dabs.com who have a great category listing system that should let you search for monitors with TV capability/vica versa.

If you're going down the TV card/usb dongle route, make sure you get one which has BDA drivers. This means its compatible with a wide range of TV frontends/PVR packages, instead of just the (usually rubbish) manufacturers software.
