I have to build a web based forum for work. It needs to be secure and kept basic.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the software I could use to build the pages, I am a total novice ant interweb stuff!

On line and free stuff would suit me.

Thanks E3D

Im not sure what its called, but there is one forum which is more popular than most, and IIRC it doesnt take long to set up.

We custom build forums for our clients, from scratch. But you get a more powerful forum if you choose an off the shelf package. I cant point you in the right direction, but your best bet would be to get an off the shelf forum which doesnt need to be built, just integrated. hth

It largely depends if you want to install it on a Windows or Linux server. Most Web servers are Linux and therefore I'd highly recommend phpBB.

Another vote for phpBB2, it really is, as far as forums go, an absolute killer app.

You don't need any, it's pre built for you. All you need to do is edit a couple of files and off it goes

phpBB is the easiest thing in the world to set up. Admin panels to add/delete forums... piece of cake. Oh and google 'phpbb help' and you'll find LOADS of sites with help on how to edit it and change things around.

vBulletin is similarly good
