I've just bought quake 4 and it runs like a pig.

I have amd athlon xp2800+ processor, 1Gb of memory and an nvidia geforce fx 5700 graphics card. I can run all the other games I play ok such unreal tournament 2004, gtr and gpl but quake 4 runs just too slowly to be playable. It also installed dx9c if that has any bearing.

Which bit do I need to upgrade?

Thanks,

Mark

the graphics card.....you really want a 256MB ATI X800 pro or higher or Nvidia 6800 series or higher

Only thing I've seen it run on well was a 7800gtx, ran as sweet as a nut.

the 6800Ultra I witnessed would only run under 1024x768 with some eye candy turned off.

The 6800 was an Alienware lappie, the 7800 belonged to a Dell XPS.

Thanks guys but there's no way I'm spending 1-200 quid on a graphics card no matter how good the game is.
