Hi,

I've got an option on my handset where I can use the 3G network to browse the internet on my laptop. That's good, because it's fast. What's not so good is that Sony Ericsson only support PCs with their sync software, so can anyone suggest how I can go about using the phone in this way on my Mac?

Cheers

Not sure if this would work, but can you connect the phone and mac via bluetooth, and setup the phone as a modem on the mac.
you wouldnt need the sync software to do that.

They can see each other, and share files, but how do I set up the phone as a modem? I'm lost!

On Sonys website in the support area for the phone, there should be modem drivers for the phone. From there you simply install the drivers, select what connection you want to make (Infra red, serial etc) and away you go.

No experience of Macs here, sorry. Failing that, check out somewhere like Expansys who have a good forum in which to ask this sort of question.

Set this up on my Powerbook recently, its fairly simple once you've got the necessary GPRS modem scripts.

You have to configure up a dialer and point it at the phone modem.

What network are you with? If it's '3', I think you may find yourself in a walled garden I'm afraid.

Hello,

I am with 3, and I have the Wireless web add on which allows access to the web outwith the walled garden, so that's not the problem.

The drivers SE have are only for PCs unfortunately. I'll take a look at those scripts and see how I get on.
