Ok Thanks for everyone who posted on my help with my dissertation thread.

I need a favour (again)

Currently have 2 problems that I need to get sorted.

Problem 1 - Login.

I've created a Login screen using asp. Its called asp:Login ID="Login1" using the tool box in Visual Web Developer 2005. (Its a box on the "default.aspx" page)

It has created a Partial Class _Default (file is named Default.aspx.vb)

How do I get this class to "Log Me In" ???

default.aspx.vb said:

Partial Class _Default
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

Protected Sub Login1_Authenticate(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.AuthenticateEventArgs) Handles Login1.Authenticate

End Sub

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

End Sub

Protected Sub LoginButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)

End Sub
End Class

My Database is called LLAsset. In there I have a table called SysUser which I am using to store the logins to the site.

The attribites in this table are SysUserId and SysUserPass

Once the user has logged in I need it to then load the default2 page which is the first page the user will see once they've logged in successfully.

Problem 2.

I have created a search page so that the user can query the database.

Eg. Search By User.

I need it so that a value can be entered into a text box and the search button selected so that it searchs the database.

I have created the query that needs to be run and I can get that to output to a "Results" page I just can't work out how I get it to run when a value is entered in a text box and the button clicked.

Many Thanks (I owe you all a beer or three)

Right I don't know any Vb or ASP stuff so I can't comment specifically, but in either case there will be a function to run a query against your database - you need to call this function based on the input from your forms, and then act accordingly on whatever value is returned...

Should be fairly straightforward, but you'll need someone with more specific knowledge than me to help you further.
