Hi,

I got a "wired" network through most of my house which I use regularly. Now I have a media-center type PC on a room which has no network connection and I'd like to "extend" my network to that PC. It already has an on-board network connector, but no free slots for any more boards. Is there any way to use a wireless network system to basically replace the cable connection between the main network and that PC? Ie, to work "just as if it was a wire"? What would be needed and what speed could be expected?

Any help appreciated

You need a Wireless Bridge, they work at 11g speeds so 54mb/sec

Yep you can use a wireless access point connected to any part of the network, and a USB wireless dongle on the PC if you've got no free PCI slots.
One of these and one of these.

You could replace your wired router if you've got one with one with wireless built in, but it will cost more and mean re-setting up your internet connection.
