Colour Laser Printer
Discussion
Ive got a Xerox Phaser 6100 in the office that has developed a poor print (black printing only, colour seems OK) down the centre of the page. Ive changed the toner and still getting the same problem. Been onto Xerox who tell me the call out is going to be £281 plus VAT
I think I can get the later model for about £350 new
Anyway, Im happy with the 6100 generally but thought I would ask the PH massive if they have/would reccomend another colour laser printer for around that price. Taking into account the toner catridge price (£50) of course.
Oh, and of course, where's the best place to get printer deals then?
Muchos grassy arse

I use a network-capable Dell 3100CN and it has been fantastic, though it's not the fastest. The current price is £289 exc. VAT and delivery. We have a supplier who is doing generic print cartridges for them at about half the Dell price.
The 5100CN can do double-sided printing and is faster so may be more suited to your needs?
Hope this helps.

Have you been able to check the fuser unit to make sure there's nothing fouling the centre of it, i.e. old toner deposits or corrosion (if metallic)? I would have expected to see a degradation in the colour print quality too, unless colour toner can fuse at a lower temperature than black toner (no idea, have never needed to find out!).

If it is a fuser issue (ie soiled heat roll or damaged pressure roll etc) then all prints would be affected.
If it is a "black only" issue, I would suspect a problem with the black developing module.
