I've got an old broadband modem (about 4 years old) kicking about the house. My parents are getting broadband installed soon and I was just wondering if the old one will be fine or if it's worth upgrading to a new one.

Cheers

The old one should work but if it's just a modem (not a router) I'd upgrade to a router as it provides easy expansion if required in the future and an extra level of security through NAT.

or on the flip side , I set my parents up with Pipex who were offering a 'free modem'. I said no thanks so they gave me 3 months free service instead. So its not really free now is it..picked up a b/b modem on ebay for £5 and stuck ZoneAlarm on the PC.
