Any gurus here?

I have a problem rendering a movie with a custom image size.

We can produce movies from after effects that are 720 x 576 pixels, but if we try and render movies that are 768 x 576 pixels, we get the following error:

Quicktime codec error -8963

Running After Effects version 5.5

Any offers?!

I think that error refers to rendering (changing aspect ratio) that doesn't match the codec used. It throws a wobbly and goes off to sulk in the corner.

Ah, did a google too, have a look here - www.wwug.com/forums/adobe_after-effects/020403183011.htm

Yep you are going from DV/D1 PAL to DV/D1 PAL Square pixels, which is what the display resolution is. Basically as FWD says the codec is throwing a wobbly. Change your compression setting from DV compression to a different one. Say none. File size will be huge but no problems, this is what I use at work. Why do you want to render Display PAL anyhow?

A DV codec will only render one set of specifications, which is:

720 x 576 @ 1.067 25fps
720 x 576 @ 1.42 25fps

or 720 x 480 @ 0.9 29.97 fps

The widescreen (NTSC) escapes me at them moment, but I can find it out if you want. Only know the NTSC because I did a job on Friday for the USA.

Drpo me a line via email if you have any problems.
