Basically it gives you 2.5Gig of online storage so you never really have to delete any mails, has a good search facility to. Also got some nice options, like been able to send mails from other mail addresses you own.
So for instance, I own a domain for my business, but basically just use it for email forwarding, and it's all forwarded to the Gmail account, Gmail allows me to send on behalf of my domain so people receive dan@mydomain.com instead of dan@Gmail.com.

One of the cons would be that everything is stored in your 'inbox'. You can mark certain items together, but you can't physically move them into separate folders (I just don't like having loads of stuff in my inbox when I login
) Maybe it's just me, but I find their servers go up and down a lot - and least twice a day, my gmail notifier will tell me it can't contact my mail, and regularly, I can't log into my mail because 'the service is temporarily unavailable'.
Personally, I much prefer the new Yahoo Mail (only Beta at the moment). It's got some really neat features such as you can drag and drop your mail just like Windows Explorer...it's very cool!
Having said that, I do use my gmail more....more out of habit than anything else!

You can get round this by Archiving your mail. It will remove it from the inbox but will still keep your labels on the mail so you can get straight to them.
Another pro is that you instead of folders you have labels for items. You can assign multiple labels to each item if you so wish.
Tim.
PS. anybody who wants an invite drop me a mail.
Another Googlemail user here.
Only slight annoyance about Googlemail concerns using it with a POP mail client (outlook, in my case.) You can log onto your account via the website, find things you don't want to download in your inbox (not necessarily spam, but things like multiple "Someone has replied to your pistonheads thread"
and put them into Archive.
However, when you then fire up Outlook and download your eMail, it gets everything - including the things you have just put into archive.
Other than that, it's very good. Particularly like the feature that allows to to reply from other eMail addresses.
Why do they only allow 100 invites per person?
Oli.
