The Bt "Engineers" have just left my house where I have having problems with the connection dropping out at 1730 every night until morning!

They have disabled the extensions for Broadband and put one of the old style filtered sockets on the main connection in the hall, problem is, this is nowhere near any PC?

If I connect a laptop to the router with a cable and setup the network should I then be able to use the system with no PC actually attached and all on wireless? obviously whilst the system is dropping out I keep having to re-configure the router so if it is not fixed it will be pain in the *rse!

Thanks
Nick

As long as the ADSL router/hub is connected to the phone line and power thats all that is required and it will work in exactly the way you require.

Thanks
Didn't want to face the curse of the wife for having a cable visible in the house

yeah no need for a hardwired net connection once you've configured the wireless.
