Right.. I've got 1 HDMI playback device (Lacie Silverscreen), 1 HDMI display device (projector), and 1 5 metre HDMI lead. THe trouble is, no picture !
Have done everything I can think of, but without other units to test & fault find its tricky. Is there anyone around Reading/Tilehurst area that could lend a hand; really need to try my stuff with other kit to see where the problem/fault is..
cheers all

Are you trying to send hi-def video, and if so are you able to test with standard def to see if it's an overall system problem or something more specific?
I had a blank screen problem trying to connect my PC to a DLP RPTV, using several "cheap" (relatively speaking!) 5m DVI-HDMI cables. At 1280*720 the TV wouldn't even recognise the presence of any signal, at 800*600 the image was visible but very unstable, and only at 720*576 could I get a solid image. Decided to try a Monster 5m cable and haven't had any problems displaying any resolutions since making the change...

HDCP getting involved is my guess.
Is the content you are trying to play protected?
Is the player and the projector HDCP compliant?
I'm in Windsor Ed but somewhat rushed off me feet at the minute.
Could possibly do something during the day tommorow other than that its next week I'm afraid.
Feel free to mail.

The Lacie is a standard def player, which can cycle through various output frequencies. It was playing a file I copied to it from a DVD; played fine using s-video output.
The projector is a Panasonic AE900 which is relatively recent, has worked with everything else I've tried (interlace componenet, prg scan componenet, s video). The 5m lead wasnt Monster quality (was about £30 iirc)
No panic to get this working - the picture with component is good - just curious to see what improvement, if any, HDMI gives, for as & when I upgrade my DVD player... (which I seem to do every 2 seconds)

Component offers no loss in 720p or 1080i for hidef, HDMI only brings integrated sound to the equation.
ahh intersting. Assumed a digits in.. digits out etc would be better. Hey ho.
Would still like to resolve at some point (perhaps when you're a bit quieter.. got your email many thanks Plotto)

Is that 1x5m HDMI cable or 15m HDMI?
If it is 15m then as far as I know this lenght have not been known to pass the HDMI performance tests yet.
Chris
