Laptop

[polus]

I have a friend looking for a laptop for his business.

I doubt it will be used for games but as a business laptop it will need to be reliable and robust.

The applications sat on it will be: Windows XP, MS Office, Mozilla and T'Bird; so nothing CPU hungry.

Im not familar with the laptop market... What are the decent makes of laptops and which ones are worth avoiding?

Dell 1300, £329 (last time I looked) absolute bargain.

Dell and IBM/Lenovo seem to be the current favourites. You say 'robust' so if you go with Dell, I'd be inclined to spend a wee bit more and get something from the Latitude range rather than an Inspiron. I've had both in the past, and the Latitude was a lot sturdier.
