Multiple (duplicate) control panels in XP?

Boss has just called me in to look at his PC - for some reason amongst other problems he has multiple copies of each control panel - any ideas why, and what is the best/simplest thing to do? I have a theory as to the why - he's a "happy clicker" and a dangerous explorer (from the comfort of his chair) and likes to poke around in files I keep telling him not to, so no doubt it's his doing - but of course I've now got to clear up the mess

I'd check for multiple copies of *.cpl in system32...
