since having to boot my pc via an older bootup reg file now, as the last one became registry corrupt, [an i cant be bothered to reinstall my o/s all over again], ive noticed that nowadays, when playing back mp3's via winamp as usual, the music tends to suddenly stop for less than a second then carry on!

its like a persons stutter a few times per a 5-min track.

ive checked out my o/s 'settings' re the 'multimedia' an 'sound' icons, but they provide no indicator as to whats wrong.

i assume it maybe either a - wrong audio buffer setting, or another TSR prog interjecting during playback, or maybe some compatibility clash somewhere.

it didnt happen before the change as all music played fine [ie- seamless], therefore my pc's hardware cant be faulty.

...so any help advice appreciated

Change the proces priority (in general settings on winamp) to High.

You're probably missing some low level driver info. I'd reinstall all your drivers, starting with the motherboard. Then reinstall Winamp.

Have you got DMA turned on on your hard drive? If it's off, turn it on.

Your probably using the Arkwright codec, I suggest changing this and installing the Fletcher codec.
