Broken free AVG?

Just come back for being away for a few days and my free AVG is throwing a strop and won't do anything, it just gives me a box saying it can't initialize the AVG kernal interface, no icon in the system tray. Is this because it's a Sunday and therefore it can't update as it would like to or have I somehow broken it without my computer being on?

Explanations in nice plain English please!

Mines working OK, just done an update!

When mine has refused to play ball in the past, I just reinstall it and it has up until now sorted the problem.

Fixed itself this morning, I think my computer suffers from separation anxiety...
