Last night I was playing with my brother's pc, a newer version of mine... He has a Shuttle with a Sempron 3000 with a agp graphics card. I was generally cleaning it up, spyware etc etc, user accounts. I noticed the cpu was registering in Windows as a Athlon 1200, I reset the bios to automatic, now it won't boot, won't post and nothing is shown, the monitor doesn't even trigger on. I tried removing the ram, reset the bios, removed battery, but nothing is happening... what is the most likely thing that has gone wrong or gone pop ?

Thanks

Check the motherboard manual; there may be a key to hold down whilst booting to reset the CPU to the minimum default; chaintech used to define the end key for this - useful for overclockers.
How long did you leave the CMOS battery out? I'd be paranoid and give it a minute. Also with the case off, I'd take the time to reseat the RAM - paranoia again.
Failing all that, go back to the motherboard manual and see if you can set the cpu speed by jumpers (it'll currently be set to controlled by BIOS, if there are any).

As suggested check all the connections and reseat everything.

The BIOS can be a pain, so it's worth upgrading to the latest version - especially with the Sempron chips.

I bet you're popular with your brother right now.
