AAHHHH!!!! WEBCAM>>>>>REALLY FED UP NOW....
Discussion
So my wecam / mike combo arrives from Azamon....
I go through the motions of installation....and nothing....
Then my laptop goes berserk!!!!
End up doing a system restore via safe mode....
Right:
The mike works....
The camera won't work - it says i have no video capture hardware...?
What the hell is wrong, what shall i do and how shall i do it....?
Microsoft downloads seem to have no effect...

Have you been through the "add new hardware" wizard? Any specific error messages? Does your laptop have powered USB 2.0 ports? Is it connected fully? As you can tell its a little difficult to diagnose without a little more information spec wise and action wise.
New Hardware Wizard - no joy
Specific error message: "you have no video capture hardware"
Powered 2.0 ports......erm how do I find out? (I think yes....)
Device manager says:
CIF single chip is not working....
"This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."
Driver provider is unknown...and trying to find / update is not working...?

Have you gone to the webcam manufacturer's website - sounds like a driver issue. Have you gone through the reinstall driver and pointed it at the .inf on the disk provided (I assume it came with a CD)?

In device manager rightclick the malfunctioning unknown device. Select properties and then the driver tab. Select update driver then no, not this time (radial), next. Install from a list or specific location (radial), next. Search for best driver in these locations (radial), Include this location in the search (tick box) click on browse. Find the directory on the disk with the driver in it (you can only ok when it finds a suitable file extension). And hopefully Robert will be your mothers brother.
