I'm getting frustrated with PayPal. I have purchased an item from eBay, and paid for it using my PayPal account. However what I didn't know was that my credit card had expired, and PayPal were taking money from my bank account directly. I don't have a problem with this - however, it will take 7-9 working days to clear, which is ridiculous as I need to pay for the item and have it delivered. Now after 20 mins on to the PayPal rep in Mumbai, he tells me that I cannot cancel the payment, nor can I credit my account with the amount and pay the merchant! Apparently the money has to go to the merchant, and then he requests a refund! What a pain in the arse! Can anyone suggest a way around it? Should I make another payment to the seller and hope that I can claw back the initial payment? Help!

Cheers

Mail the seller, appologise, explain.

A good seller will happily wait until payment is sorted out (as long as it's only a few days) , then ship.

Report Paypal to the Banking Ombudsman. They're under the control of the FSA in the UK, and the more slap-downs they get for their arrogant, high-handed approach, the better.
