Computer numpty seeks advice!!

OK,

Around two weeks ago, our computer at work, (Running XP home) started to show text slightly smaller than usual, and when trying to sign into my MSN hotmail account, the text in the box where you type your e-mail address and password was very small and spidery (for want of a better word), to the extent that it was almost unreadable....

So, my brother, who is another numpty did a "system restore", choosing a random date around a month ago.

Now, eveything is still working OK, we can connect up to 95% of things, Pistonheads, Yahoo, BBC, etc, even MSN.com, but when we try to access Hotmail, (and my brothers Excite account) a plain white screen keeps coming up, with no text on it at all..

Any ideas??....
