Does anyone have any recommendations for a PC to buy for 3-400 quid. E-bay has plenty of Dell stuff at this price, including a factory outlet. I know nothing about computers so any guidance welcome. Thanks.

You can buy new Dell kit for that amount of money! If you're not technically minded and are buying a computer for the sake of having one then go Dell.

If you have any plans to use the computer for something specific then think again and do some homework

As Puggit says - I'd take a look at what specifically you want to use the machine for, and use that to determine the kind of machine you want.

As an aside - you could easily get a top spec 2nd hand notebook for that price.

Drop me a mail, if you want some help.

Well.....I want to play the odd game; C+C and suchlike, on line as well. Burn the odd cd, surf the net etc. Doesn't need to be rocket powered by anymeans. I have a few bits and bobs I can strip out of the current one such as ram and a DVD drive. I'm thinking £400 should get me a decent-ish PC. It's just a matter of the best compromise and source.

Nice one. A few goodies there for not much cash.

Watch out for the "gotchas" though, like having onboard/integrated video. It slows down the entire system and eats into your memory space too.
