System restore points

I'm running windows ME, and its not automatically making any restore dates, as I have none. It wont even let me create any myself. Any ideas.

Can you not do what is stated in the instructions in the link?, if not is it because of the button being grayed out or does windows through up an error?

It says it wont let me do it. It says try switching off and running system restore again...but still the same.

Try this

right click on my computer - properties - performance tab - file system - troubleshooting tab - in here do you have the system restore points disabled?

The system restore is NOT disabled. (not ticked).

Kojack, it looks as though you have lost the use of "System Restore" and "Windows Media Player" at roughly the same time. Sounds like it could be a virus or spyware problem, have you checked for both?

ran spybot/AVG virus check...still have the probs.

What's the exact error message?

'System Restore is not able to create a restore point. Please restart your computer and run again'.

Try a thorough scandisk, if that passes try a re-install of ME over the top, ditto for the media player thing!

no luck. I give up. Its not working at all.
