I am looking at Dell and dual core.
My question is.. Would I be better with a 2.8 Dual core or a 3.2 std machine.
I mostly use the PC for internet, photography inc light photoshop, and DVD / CD s.
Your collective knowledge please....

Forgot to add, if Dual it would be a 5150 and single would be a 9150.

I have an AMD dual core machine. Before I got it I was a bit dubious about the benefits, but after having used it for 4 months I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. More than that, I would advise against single core processors.

I throw pretty much everything at this CPU; Photoshop, 3D Studio, CAD, GT Legends, Oblivion, and it's a no-brainer decision.

Dual core is far preferable for everyday computing and is very much the future (along with quad core and more). In fact, it will be like the blades on razors soon except that it will actually make a difference!

Information on amazing dual-core value (4.1 GHz dual-core at £79.95 that blows away most of Intel and AMD's top-end offerings) at Tom's Hardware.

Single cores tend top be quicker at one task, dual are afr better at multiple tasks.

But from what you said you do a dual core will be far better than a single.
