I have an old mboard with 2 pentium 3 933s on it in socket 370s which I was going to use as the base for a media system but the processor fans are rather old and noisy. Are any of the newer fan sizes compatible with a 370 socket?
Thanks,
Mark
Don't think so, maybe look at cleaning the dust out of the heatsinks and getting new ball-bearing fans for the CPU's with a fan controller to keep the speed down. Preferably a PSU with a nice quiet 120mm fan and a case fan also at low speed too.
You mean the fans on the heatsinks?
erm... yeah they can usually be replaced, standard size. either 40mm or 60mm unscrew one and go round maplins to figure out which size it is, might even be written on the thing once you clean the dirt off.
I want to replace the whole heat sink and fan assembly for something much quieter. I have since found that a socket a heatsink and fan will fit.
Thanks,
Mark
