Laptop Thread 2! Needs to be light though!
Discussion
Ok, I also need a new laptop but it needs to be LIGHT!! I drag my arse all over Europe on a weekly basis so needs to be between 1.5 - 2kg. Decent sized screen (13" ideally), 1024 RAM, decent prcoessor blah blah, money not TOO much of a problem but something around £900 - £1300 would be spot on. I've been searching for ages and looked at the Sony SZ1XP (Dixons Tax free @ airport but out of stock
)
Anybody own a light laptop that they would suggest?

Yeah, get that sony one.
Bought one for my boss recently, it's a nice package, sony quality and style, not found
one that is as good for the same money since.
What the exact model I posted (SZ1XP) ??
yes...although it's a bit over your budget at around £1600.

£1361 in Dixons at Heathrow!

OK, it's a little bit bigger and a little bit heavier, but if you're out and about a lot then why not get a proper road warrior laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad T43? The 14" screen version is a good compromise size for mixed use.
The 2Gb 14" XGA T43 is about £1100 (+VAT) - PC World Biz have a returned one for £800 at the moment which is about as cheap as you see them on eBay.
A couple of colleagues have got miniature Sony and Dell machines and they find them frustratingly slow.

The new Apple 13" MacBook - your budget will get you a top spec model, extra RAM and some change.
And if you really, really have to, you can install Windows on it...

flippin eck, it's a no brainer then!
they got the latest core duo chips and 1Gb ram 100Gb hdu, are very light look fantastic, flipable graphics for
games or battery life, good size screen and resolution. If i was looking to buy a laptop, I would get one of these.
We use the one at work as a demo machine, so it's running enterprise grade SQL server and a full 3 tier app without
any problems just to give you an idea of it's capability!
Sony quality and reliability too.....I should become a saleseman!!
