Ok an interestingone here..

I'd like to be able to plug a mobile webcam into the internet so i can stream it live on the web..

the connection medium would probably have to be a 3g mobile phone for the bandwidth, linked to a small/lapdog pc and a web cam.

so as i see it there are 3 problems

1) the pc and webcam setup. cam need to be able to take live fast moving objects.
2) linking to internet via 3g
3) hosting the live stream.

considerations are

a) video size and quality
b) bandwidth
c) no of connections to live stream

any body got any ideas, comments etc

Laptop + 3G datacard + webcam/decent camera + encoder software. Media encoder 9 will publish a live stream direct. Not sure about 3g bandwidth or any NAT/IP issues on a 3g datacard you probably get a 10.x.x.x IP you may not be able to have inbound connections. Don't have a 3G signal here so have never been able to test it.

If you want loads of people connected then you are going to have to republish the stream via a hosted server.

Quality will depend on how much bandwidth available over 3G and whether you repulish it or have direct connections. If you republish then you only have one connection to the 3g card so more bandwidth for the stream.

I would imagine this is going to be expensive
