My sister is looking for a new ISP to provide a 56k dial up service.. I know, I know.. I've told her its like looking for someone who provides needles for 78 players but what can you do? Can anyone suggest a good ISP, who is cheaper than 4p a min daytime, 2p evenings, 1p weekends? Any help appreciated, cheers S

Is she really likely to be on line for less than a couple of hours a month? OR why not switch to carphone warehouse's "talk talk" unlimited free broadband package? Costs about the same as a BT land line.

Edited to remove dodgy vB code

Not dial up but Tesco Value Broadband £13.97 per month...

It won't tie up the phone line either

Beware that if you have "number withheld" programmed into your BT phone at the exchange (so you don't have to dial 141 every time) then you won't be able to send email via wanadoo dial-up PAYG.

Found that one out the hard way when I refurbed a mates old PC for him to give to his mum, to introduce her to the web and email!

cheers chaps - sorry for the late response - been out all day. I think i may have persuaded her to bite the bullet and go for broadband... Now mine is a wireless service as im out of range to get it down the old copper wires.. but she is. So, forgive my ignorance - but whats hot and whats not in the world of 'normal' broadband.. preferably less than 15gbp a month and no limits..?

thanks again,

S

Have a look at the Carphone Warehouse offering. If she has a BT line she can switch to Talk Talk and get free broadband. I've no idea how good it is, but they promise up to 8mb speeds and "feree forever" - or at least as long as you use their phione service.

I'm with wanadoo, which is OK, but would have gone to talk talk if I hadn't got nine months of a twelve month contract to go....

Talk Talk prices look good, but they're quoting something like four months for connection in my area.

carphone warehouse has connection issues, read the fine print and you can be sold the package and the "free" BB being free comes a lot later

check out www.adslguide.org as tbh carphone and talk talk are not the best choice one can make, yes they are cheap or free, but she might be disappointed in the service with those two
