My lads PC - 2.8 GHz/1Gb memory, currently has a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9000 x4 AGP card it it for game playing.

I don't want to upgrade the PC, and would like to stick to Radeon as I know my way round the site for drivers etc - whats the best Radeon AGP card to upgrade to? - I'm assuming the AGP card slot is either a x4 or universal (PC is 3 years old now)

Seconded. 9700/9800 Pro/XT a e quick enough for everything but the latest and greatest games - FEAR was very slow on my 9800 Pro, but everything else was fine.

the x850 is meant to be very good, as is the x800 GTO when overclocked.

I had to ramp it down to about 800x600, low detail. That was the point at which I upgraded.

make sure the mobo that you did not mention can take 8x AGP as if it cant, time to upgrade

using sapphire 9800 pro on call of duty 2 with 2 GB ram and it works fine, not going to upgrade this pc, but looking for a new rig later this year / early next year
