Been given a MacBook Pro at work (as well as my Dell Windows workhorse ).

But I'm a Mac numpty (need to learn - I'll be demoing our software on it soon!). I am mostly non-conversant in Unix also which does not help.

1st question of many I'm sure - how do I find out the bugger's MAC address so I can add it in to my MAC filtering on my router?!

Blue Apple top left.

About This Mac

More info...

This will load the System Profiler from the Utilities folder. There's a network section that'll display the Mac addresses.

Edited to say there's also a useful Network Utility in the Utilities folder

Alternatively if you want to look like the 31337 h4x0rs who use Macs cos they are neat unix machines, fire up a terminal window and run ifconfig -a

Remember that your MBP has lots of network interfaces - make sure you're looking at the right one (built in wired ethernet is normally en0)
