I've used ebuyer about a dozen times over the last 3 or so years.

Heard some people say they are crap with returns but a mate recently had to send back a freview hdd recorder and they sorted things out efficiently. They didn't used to have a telephone customer services line (web-based only) but they now do.

I've had mixed results from EBuyer but more consistent (i.e. good) service from Novatech, if slightly more expensive for some stuff.

Ebuyer are fine, as long as you don't need a refund

I generally use...

www.aria.co.uk
www.microdirect.co.uk
www.savastore.com
www.scan.co.uk

Have used www.dabs.com in the past, but find their prices aren't competitive. www.novatech.co.uk are pretty good too.

The problem with ebuyer is not refunds, it's the couriers they use. Numpty is too kind. They make parcelfarce look like the epitome of efficiency.

I've never had a problem with city link - but thats only because I've been fortuante to be there when they turned up. On more than one occasion it would have been uneconomical for me to collect the parcel from the depot as they are so far away!

City Link are terrible to non business address IMO. Always made mistakes trying to get deliveries from them to home, although when I get them to deliver to work, it's all fine and dandy. Funny thing is the post code for the office is too new to be on any maps, my house has been there for 90 years!

Service and price varies.

Can do you some top spec RAM though, the winner in a recent TomsHardware test.

well - after some frantic surfing and price comparisons - I have to say that OverClockers are the cheapest - so they will probably be getting my £££

thanks for all your help.

Overclockers being cheapest has to be a first...

Excellent for finding hard-to-find stuff though, I got my LanParty Expert motherboard from them just before Christmas and delivery was nice and quick.

www.komplett.co.uk are also worth a look. Their support department has given me quick and honest answers, in comparison to the droids most places use.

I tend to use the following, depending on price and availabilty:

Scan
Overclockers
Aria
Komplett
Dabs
Ebuyer

Of the lot, Scan has always given great service as well as low prices and quick delivery, and you can get hold of them on the phone.

Overclockers also have a decent range of the higher-end stuff, often stock stuff that the others are out of, but prices aren't that cheap usually. Fast delivery though, especially since they ditched Amtrak.

Dabs are a bit slow, and a pain to deal with if you have any problems as they generally take 24+ hours to respond to mails and you can't call them. They also didn't turn up to collect an RMA item, then claimed that I didn't actually arrange it when I complained

Komplett are OK, but took several months to refund me for a faulty CPU.

I guess that different couriers are better in certain areas - I've never had a problem with City Link, but Amtrak drive me to despair!

Another shout for Komplett.
Steer clear of savastore.
Consider Tekheads as another one worth a gander at.

I had my stuff arrive from Scan yesterday, and must admit, was very impressed with the very carefully packed componants, very professionally done. First time I've used them, but will again for sure. I sometimes use Ebuyer, and I used to use OCUK a lot, the latter have great stuff at fair prices, but have heard way too many horror stories if the customer gets dud equipment, including one from a friend of mine, after I recommended them!
