YUV is Composite (CVBS) out (the yellow RCA), there are loads of vga cards designated 'TV-Out' that have either a composite or s-video or both in addition to VGA.

There arent any, to my knowledge, Component (YPbPr) (the red, green and blue RCAs) video cards out there in the consumer marketplace currently. They may come though, eventually.

Connecting your PC to the plasma via its VGA In if it has one will offer broadly equivalent picture quality to that provided by a YPbPr connection.

many plasmasaccept component over the VGA conenctor, but then you'd just use the VGA connector lol. Also use DVI if both offer it.

But I'm fairly sure VGA is basicaly component anyhow and a VGA-component cable like this one : www.hdstep.com/detail.php?m_id=1024 should work

I thought YUV was a Luma channel and two colour difference channels. So to say, YPbPr is a type of YUV. Most people refer to RGB as being component video. It certainly Wiki's out that way. I think YUV is like composite video, before it is mixed up but without the (unwanted) intermodulation products.

RGB syncs are usually on green, and in YUV on luma.

lots of video cards now do component out through the TV-out socket. On older cards, it was S-Video only, but now you get a "dongle" with various connectors, including component and can switch the output in the drivers.

Most modern cards come with s-video which can easily be converted into composite. YPbPr (component) can be obtained for ati cards, using a dvi adapter: Here Don't know about availability in the uk though.
