I have had to re install windows into my new'ish PC. Mesh desktop, FX-57 processor, Asus A8N-sli motherbord, 7800GTX GC. But have re installed windows but cannot connect to broadband to install, the new drivers etc I need. It says in the device manager I have no driver for ehternet.

Hope you follow me so far.

I phoned mesh who gave me the web sites of ASUS and Nvidia who I needed, they say to upload the drivers and so get me back on broadband. I have done so on my laptop and put the drivers onto my PC with no luck. there is soo many drivers for the motherboard I'm not sure with ones I need.

please help. All I need to to connect to the net and I can sort everything else out I hope. I usually wireless but have connected the desktop to the broadband by wire, so I can directly connect to the net.

please any help will be greatly taken

thanks

Did you get a CD with the motherboard drivers on it?

If so sling it in the drive.

In device manager you should be able to see the ethernet adapter even if it has a yellow ? next to it. double click it and select reinstall driver. Let windows do it automatically, let it search the CD drive, If it finds loads they're probably all the same but in diferent languages. The dialog is a scrolling nightmare, if you can't find one that's obviously english, pick any, it's a NIC driver it really doesn;t make much difference.

This one looks to be it ...

Goto the download page for the m'board

V6.65 2005/07/26 update

OS WinXP

Description nVidia Chipset(CK804) driver version V6.65 for Windows XP(WHQL).
To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver before updating Bios version 1010 or later

File Size 30.07 (MBytes)

If you ask them, they'll send you the motherboard cd.

One word of caution Remal.
I've just updated my PC to an AMD4400 on an asus A8N-E motherboard. Whenever I tried to download something, the files were always corrupted. I updated to the driver detailed above, but it didn't work. I had to uninstall it, and reinstall the one that came on the cd. It turns out that the NVIDEA firewall was causing the corruptions.
If you need a copy of the cd I've got, pm me.
