Evesham computers

Any experiance of these?
Looking for another laptop to use as a general computer and a backup to my current Compaq laptop that i will be using for other work.
They seem reasonably priced and spec'd and reviews tend to rate them well. Just looking for a midspec unit that is going to be reliable. I have always been Intel though and may make the switch to AMD, any advantages/disadvantages?

I've had my Evesham laptop for 2 years - no major problems though I think the video card suffers a bit in the heat (start getting strange interferrence - clears up if I run my desk fan over the top). Mines a www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=187 and the only major quibble I've had has been the audio from it (on mp3 playback you get the annoying "hiccup" when it want to do something else as well) this was solved by picking up a 5.1 USB sound card

I've used Evesham for my desktop PCs for years now. I once had a hard disk failure about a week after setting up a new one, they had an engineer out to replace it within a few hours. Other than that, I've always found their hardware to be very reliable. And their telephone service is very good.

I'm planning on getting a new desktop one of these days, when the taxman has had his share of my income. (Share?? Isn't he meant to leave some for me?!) Evesham will be the first place I'll look.

my very first computer was an evesham PC .. was a wonderfully reliable piece of kit, in fact i only stopped using it because i was given something much faster by a customer otherwise i'd probably still be using it now .. i had probably 6 years of faithful service. I specced it at their outlet in Armley in Leeds. very friendly.
Based on my experience many years ago I'd still recommend them

When I was at University back in the early 90's a housemate had an all singing all dancing Evesham and he always sang it's praises.

I have often looked at their machines but until recently had found them (like Dell) a bit on the expensive side. Having said that the Toshiba Qosmio that I am currently using is not very good and constantly crashes (It is only 8 months old).

I bought my desktop from them last Jan, no problems so far and it is used pretty much every day. Friendly people in the Peterborough store and a 3 year warranty which i think comes with all their computers (dont quote me on that though!)

Have a Tosh Qosmio G10 in constant use, by several people for 16 months. Been absolutely excellent and faultless. Does exactly what it says on the tin and travels well.
Suspect your problem with yours lies elsewhere.
My Sony Vaio does well and Dell PC built to spec, all zero probs and coupled up to a Cisco wifi system.

I ran an HCi scheme in December 2004 for my company, Evesham supplied the PCs and laptops. We had 120 employees take up the offer, and to date only 1 of them has had any bother with his PC which was replaced with a new one. I'd recommend them highly.

Another happy customer here...
Three high spec development machines in use here that I ordered over the last year.
Really good machines, good warranty, fortunately not had to use it yet as they've all been flawless.....cue plumes of smoke !
