Is moving/changing an extended partition into a primary partition possible?

For some unknown reason XP is installed on an extended partition, and now Linux won't dual boot with XP (See the other thread )

Any software like Partition Magic do the trick?
Or! Preferably something nice and free

Dave, I am sure Partition Magic will do it, if you want my copy (retail version), you are more than welcome to it (don't use it anymore)

Thanks for the offer of P Magic, and suggestions!
I fixed my original problem with Partition Magic, then ended up reformatting in the end anyway

48 hours wasted, but the computer is running a bit smoother now

Cheers,
Dave.
