I currently have a 24" Dell WUXGA widescreen running at 1920 x 1280 but am lusting after (don't tell my business partners!) their 30" model, or a dual-24" screen setup. My laptop also has a 17" WUXGA screen running at 1920 x 1280. I reckon that makes me pretty hardcore, but I suspect there are people on here with more impressive display configurations? Consider the gauntlet laid down!

equally importantly - what are you using to drive the display?...not much point in being able to display some ludicrous resolution...at 5 fps.

I have the Dell 3007WFP 30 inch for my home computer (driven by an Nvidia 7800 GTX with 512mb) and have the media centre pc hooked up to the 57 inch widescreen in the family room (Nvidia based MCE display via HDMI)

Not big & not clever, but I've recently taken to using an extended desktop across 2 screens - its amazing how useful it is!

I run three screens - one for Outlook, PH etc, one for the IDE, and one for the output, or a VMware session onto a test machine. For the same money, I'd much rather have 3 x 17" screens than 1 x 30".

Connecting your home TV to your computer (e.g. through Media Centre) doesn't count! Home TVs, even HDTV ones, are not designed to run the kind of resolutions I'm talking about.

IMO, ErnestM and jamieboy are in the lead a present. ErnestM for the best single screen (the one I want actually ) and jamieboy for the best multi-screen.

At the office I have a 21" CRT running at 1600x1200, with a 17" TFT either side running 1280x1024.

At home I have a dell 20" widescreen and a dell 15" as well. Couldn't live without the real estate now! Sad thing is I've also got a dell 17" TFT at home that I wont use cos it doesn't match the other two...

Its a fact that screen real estate outweighs the value of any other real estate anywhere on earth, if you are a serious computer user.

Currently running 1 Apple 30" LCD (2560x1600), 1 Apple 17" LCD (1280x1024), and one Eizo 18" LCD (1280x1024) off my Quad powermac.

The Apple 30" LCD is absolutely awesome. I presume the Dell equivalent is the same panel?

I think you're right. Having my 24" widescreen has made a significant difference to my productivity, particularly when working on large spreadsheets or in graphic design packages. I haven't code for a while but based on past experience I expect running and IDE on such a large screen would also be very useful.

I'll give you a tenner for it

I've got a 17" at 1280x1024
and extending the desktop onto a 15" at 800x600 (Actually a TV so I get the best of both worlds)

But due to size differences and resolution, it's not the most perfect setup

Oh
I'm running on a 19" CRT @ 128x1024 extended onto a 14" flat panel (well, laptop actually) @ 1024x768.

I generally run Visual Studio on the CRT and have Outlook, output etc on the lappy screen.

A widescreen format as the primary display would be invaluable with VS!
