Tempted fate, now have a dead laserjet
Discussion
I bad mouthed HP with some "they don't make them like they used to" talk in a thread the other day, and it seems that in doing so have jinxed one of our HP Laserjets as now when you turn it on it just squeals and then wont print. No errors or indication of what's going on, have pulled it to bits to see if there is anything obviously wrong but I can't see nowt. (not that I know anything about printers anyway!)
So, advice on a decent Laser printer that will do duplexing? Probably termed as a workgroup printer, no huge load on it really, other than the odd 400 page manual being printed off.
I guess I'd rather avoid HP since every HP device I've had gets progressively worse quality, but then i'd wager the same is true of the other manufacturers.
Looks like from the HP range it's the 2420dn that will fit the bill, at £650ish.
Any assistance appreciated!

It should be ok although I'd step it up to a 4250 or 4350. Better built and faster. Paper path is less convoluted as well. 4250 is £539 ex VAT as well according to HP's website. The Network version is £769 Ex vat.
Add in the duplexer to either the 4250 or 4350 and you are way past the £1k mark, given the use it gets I can't justify that much.
The brother HL5250dn is looking good at a measly £221. If it lasts 1 year, pound for pound it will have been cheaper than the HP it's replacing!
